Community Calendar – Renita Smith, Coordinator

Renita joined the NHDA in 2008, and has been the Community Calendar Coordinator since that time.  She is a dedicated member of NHDA and not only coordinates the monthly NHDA Community Calendar, Renita also volunteers in assisting with activities involving hand dance and swing dance organizations, both locally and nationally.  Her first hand dance instructor was Leroy Green, then she continued her dancing skills with Smooth & EZ Hand Dance Institute, Poetry In Motion, and Priscilla Wiley.  Renita is the mother of Markus Smith.

 

Newsletter – Judine Slaughter, Editor

Judine began her membership with the NHDA in 2011 as the Newsletter Editor.  Her first Hand Dance instructor was Tony Blake with the 7 Step Hand Dance Academy, and she has also taken lessons from One Step at a Tyme, Praise Academy of Hand Dance and Bop, and Silky Smooth Dance Studio. She wrote and published her first book in 2002.  She has served as the Newsletter Editor for several nonprofit organizations, and is the Executive Director of the United Black Writers Association.

Currently, Judine is working on her Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at Catholic University.
